Irie Yasuhiro Soke

Irie Yasuhiro's martial arts journey commenced in 1969 with Hakkoryu Ju-Jutsu, training under the respected Shodai Soke Okuyama Ryuho. He advanced through the ranks and became a teacher at the Hakkoryu hombu dojo in 1971, dedicating over 20 years as head instructor passionately imparting his knowledge to numerous Western students. Due to personal circumstances, in 1995, Soke Irie established his own style, KoKoDo, also known as the Imperial Light Way Art, and founded the KoKoDo So Hombu Do. Today, KoKoDo flourishes as a dynamic discipline with over 30 chapters in more than 12 countries.
Michael Seamark Hanshi

Michael's journey in budo began in the 1980s, leading him study Hakkoryu and Hakko Denshin Ryu JuJutsu, where he achieved the impressive title of 8th Dan and Menkyo Kaiden. Under the of Irie Soke, the founder of KoKoDo Jujutsu in Japan, Michael honed his skills to become a distinguished practitioner. Currently, he serves as the Kaicho for KoKoDo JuJutsu Sadohana-Kai and is one of only two individuals globally to hold the prestigious rank of Hanshi Hachidan Menkyo Kaiden Shihan KoGyoku in KoKoDo Jujutsu.He is considered a world class budo practitioner and instructor and currently oversees the growth of dojos and study groups throughout Canada, USA, and the Oceania. Alongside his wife, Diane Seamark, also a Shihan in KoKoDo, operates the KoKoDo Jujutsu Sadohana-kai HQ in Vancouver, BC, offering a range of martial arts and therapeutic practices.

Ali Shahkar Shihan

Ali has been a committed student of Michael Seamark Hanshi at Sadohana Dojo since its inception in 1997. He was drawn to the art due to its traditional Budo foundations and highly effective techniques. Despite a demanding career as a geologist, Ali has maintained a consistent training regimen over the past 15 years, culminating in the achievement of the rank of Shihan. Since 2019, he has been leading the Sechelt KoKoDo Study Group, while regularly training at Sadohana Dojo in Vancouver and Hombu Dojo in Japan. In March 2025, Ali received his Shihan Rank in Kokodo Jujutsu from Soke Irie in Omiya, Japan. He operates Mihama Dojo in Sechelt, which is a proud member of Sadohana Kai and officially registered with KoKoDo So Hombu.
